Dragon Quest 8 is hard and extreme
Worst part about Dragon Quest 8 is such:

"Thank you for saving! Do you want to continue?" Yes/No
*presses the cancel button trying to get rid of the dialog*
"Thanks for quitting, bye bye!"

Oh and it's hard. But the fun kind of hard!

Oh man, I've done that so much, too.

How far are you? I've not had to level grind in an RPG in a long time.

I'm at level 11 right now - this actually means something in this RPG, because it's hard to level beyond that and I can't be below that to beat the bosses. In other words, I just beat Khalamari and crossed the sea.

Yeah, I was about level 11 when that happened. And yes, you get hella penalized for trying to beat a boss below level.

What do you think about the voice acting in the game? I was surprised they went with a British cast, but I think it's a nice presentation.

Penalized how? Just, like, with a game over because you can't beat it?

I think the voice acting is given a real boost with a British cast. I was quite surprised. Some voices, like Khalamari (every line done with a different accent) really added a lot to it. Jessica's got a nice, strong voice too, but I don't really think she reads her lines correctly sometimes...

How did u beat Khalamari? I'm getting my ass beat right now and it's really confusing. I can't figure out how to do it.

Re: how did u beat Khalamari?
Be level 11 at least, and be sure that Yangus psyches up while the hero heals. For more information go to http://www.gamefaqs.com

The only time I had to level up was later to pick up a spell that made that particular fight easier.

Mind you I still had my ass handed to me by the odd boss now and then...

Especially at the beginning I had to reminded I was playing a dragon quest game.

You know a game is hard when the menu is hard. :D

Sounds like something Capcom would have made. :P

Re: drangon quest
I am level 21 and I know a trick to beat the box dude for the tear thing. Go onto your main menu with the items and then go to misc. Click on tactics and change each guy to have no mercy. I beat that box dude on my second try when I had that setting.
